Structure Fire at Laurel Park Apartments
At 2:45 AM, Ocala Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to 100 NW 23rd Ave. where a two-story residential structure fire was reported. Upon arrival, units encountered heavy smoke coming from the front door of the apartment complex’s community room, and flames showing on the west wall of the structure. While Rescue 3 completed a search to ensure the community room and adjacent apartment unit were empty, Engine 3 began attacking the fire spreading through the wall and into the attic.
Although the fire spread temporarily jeopardized the adjacent apartment unit, it was not rendered uninhabitable. The family of six, two adults and four children, were able to stay home.
No injuries were sustained. The cause of the fire is to be determined.
