Fight for Freedom Logo

2nd annual 'A Fight for Freedom: Attack on Fort King' and Fort King Grand Opening!

Join us for this two-day event that will center on the re-enactment of Osceola’s attack on Fort King and the demise of Indian Agent Wiley Thompson, an event that led to the start of the Second Seminole War.

A Seminole village and soldier’s encampment will show what life was life in the 1830’s. Experience time period craft vendors, traditional skills workshops, food, drinks, and games such as tomahawk throwing and horseshoes.

The event is designed to educate, entertain and share the important history of Fort King, the Second Seminole War and the birthplace of Ocala.

Celebrate the grand opening of the reconstructed Fort King!

Admission is $5/person. Veterans and children under 5 are free.
