My father, LeRoy Strawder served on the Ocala Police Department from 1955 to 1972. He then went to CFCC to teach law enforcement and criminology to area law enforcement officers for the next 20 years. He loved the OPD and always felt most proud of his acheivements while there. We lost him on Dec. 18, 2011, and I asked for the OPD Honor Guard to be at his funeral. Sgt. Eric Hooper and his men did an amazing job, their appearance and professionalism were just outstanding, my father would have been so proud of them.
On behalf of my mother and my family, I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Overworker and under paid! It amazes me to no end the scope of an officers job! They honestly handle more situations,in my opinion, than any other field! They are peace keeper, medical help, dog control, traffic control, and the list goes on and on ... to simply say " Thank You" just doesn't seem enough, but Thank you! Thank you each and every single police man AND Woman, Than You for everything you do! Be safe!

I want to thank Officer Williams of the Ocala police department. My purse was stolen today while I was having lunch at Wendy's on S. Pine St. My husband was recovering from surgery in the Ocala Regional Hospital & I was just beside myself! My purse had all my personal information & my husband's (as he gave me his wallet and cash before he went up for surgery). My purse also had my car keys and over $500 in cash as I was going to the bank to make a deposit. Officer Williams was professional and considerate of the situation. I was pretty frazzled! I felt completely violated. Although she wasn't able to catch the thieves, (I wasn't able to provide a license number just the color of the SUV & there were no cameras at the store) she tried every which way to follow up on the crime. I can't tell you how much it meant to have an officer respond so quickly and help us get back to the hospital (I had my 85 year old dad with me). Thank you Officer Williams! I truly appreciate all you did. And I also want to thank Officer Rodriquez, as he assisted with trying to reach the cell phone company so they could "ping" or GPS the phone in my purse. I truly appreciate everything the officers did. I know it is not an easy job, and I want them to know how much I appreciated their efforts.

I want to thank OPD for their great work. The store that I work at gets a lot of crime (shoplifters and robberies) and OPD has an amazing response time to these incidents. I have come to know many of the officers on a first name basis and they are always willing to help me in any way possible. Thanks guys, and keep up the great work!
