Chief Samuel Williams

Chief Samuel Williams was born and educated in Miami. After graduating high school in 1965 he entered the United States Air Force. Upon returning home he attended Biscayne College where he obtained his Bachelors and Masters Degrees. Chief Williams is also a graduate of the prestigious Southern Police Institute.

Chief Williams joined the Metro-Dade Police Department in June 1971 where he reached the rank of Assistant Director of Support Services in 1997. In December 2001, Samuel Williams was promoted to Assistant County Manager for Miami-Dade County where he remained until his retirement on June 2003.

On August 5, 2003, he was named Chief of Police for the City of Ocala, where he remains today.

Deputy Chief Rodney Smith

Deputy Chief Rodney Smith, a Marion County native, joined the Ocala Police Department in 1988 as a Community Service Officer. He worked his way through the ranks as an Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Major and attained the rank of Deputy Chief in 2008.

Deputy Chief Smith received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Saint Leo University, and his Master of Science Degree from the University of Central Florida.

He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
