SHOOTING INCIDENT AT LOCAL APARTMENT COMPLEX
A man was critically injured in a shooting incident at a local apartment complex in the early morning hours of 10/4/13.
Case #201300184350
On today’s date, 10/04/13, officers responded to a report of a shooting at Advenir at Stonelake Apartments, 1601 SW 27th Ave., Bldg. 3100. Upon arrival, Officer James Pitman observed a small crowd of people by the driver’s door to a blue Oldsmobile Alero. Officer Pitman then observed a black male subject on the ground with blood on him and unresponsive, but gasping for air. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in critical condition.
A second uninjured victim was located at the scene and advised that he had been talking to the injured victim when a white Dodge Magnum pulled up, and two black males exited and confronted them – at least one of the suspects was armed. This victim, identified as W/M Steven Josef Carver, DOB 8/27/81, advised that when he had nothing for them to rob him of, he was ordered to sit in the Dodge Alero. He complied and then heard gun shots. As the two black males fled in the Dodge Magnum, Carver saw the other victim, identified as B/M Brandon Antonio Fillmore, DOB 2/27/86, slumped over in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Carver attempted to render aid to Fillmore and yelled for a neighbor to call 911.
While working the scene, another patrol officer located the white Dodge Magnum, but by the time they caught up to it, the occupants had fled – abandoning the vehicle in the 2600 block of NE 1st Ave.
Detectives were called out and Detective Jamie Buchbinder has been assigned as primary investigator. They are continuing to follow up on all leads and have detained one subject for questioning at this time. The investigation is on-going and updates will be provided as they become available.
