MAN ARRESTED AT COURTHOUSE
A man was arrested when he assaulted an off duty Marion County Deputy outside the Marion County Courthouse on 8/15/13.
On 8/15/13, at approximately 9:16 AM, officers responded to the Marion County Courthouse in reference to an MCSO Deputy detaining a man with a knife at gunpoint. Upon arrival, officers found that the subject had dropped the knife and complied with the orders of Deputy Timothy Liberatore.

Investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as b/m Larry Jackson, DOB 11/30/56, had been walking westbound along the sidewalk on the north side of NW 1st St. - right next to the Marion County Courthouse. Deputy Liberatore had been walking in the same direction, directly behind Jackson, as he headed towards the parking garage. While walking, Jackson suddenly turned around towards Deputy Liberatore, who was not in uniform nor on duty at the time, dropped a green towel that had concealed his knife and taken an aggressive stance towards Deputy Liberatore with the knife in his right hand. Jackson yelled, "What?!" at Deputy Liberatore, who then identified himself as law enforcement and drew his firearm. At that point, Jackson dropped his knife and complied with orders from Deputy Liberatore and officers who arrived on scene.
Jackson was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon w/o Intent to Kill. He was booked into the Marion County Jail with a $5,000.00 bond.
