Attempted Robbery by Sudden Snatch
An unknown subject attempted to rob a 68 year old woman of her purse while in the parking lot of a local shopping center on 08/31/09.
OCALA: August 31, 2009 - 5:45 PM - Officers from the Ocala Police Department
responded to J0-Ann Fabrics & Crafts (Shady Oaks Plaza), 2405 SW 27th Avenue,
in reference to a reported robbery (sudden snatch).

Preliminary investigation revealed that as the 68-year-old victim was exiting
the store, she was approached from behind and knocked to the ground by an
unidentified w/m, who was trying to steal her purse. The victim and suspect
struggled over her purse, but she refused to give up and was able to
successfully retain her property. The suspect managed to escape and was last
seen running in a southwesterly direction through the shopping plaza.

The victim received medical attention on-scene as she did sustain minor
cuts/abrasions to her arms/legs from being knocked to and dragged on the
ground.

Description: w/m; 5'10; skinny build; light brown hair (spiked); red shirt;
blue denim jeans.
