Ocala Police Department is seeing an increase in fraudulent activities
The Ocala Police Department is seeing an increase in fraudulent activities relating to scammers obtaining bank information from our citizens.
The Ocala Police Department is seeing an increase in fraudulent activities relating to scammers obtaining bank information from our citizens.

The scammers are using automated phone systems to send out messages to multiple phones advising that there is a problem with your debit card and claiming it has been compromised. The message asks for you to call the customer service at which time they will ask for all the pertinent information about your account. Scammers are then using this information to get credit using the victim’s information.

Several employees from the Ocala Police Department have received these messages as well and it poses a serious problem to potential victims within our community. We would ask anyone receiving these messages to please disregard them. Tens of thousands of these messages are sent out daily so it is not necessary to contact the police department unless you have actually lost money.
