| SECOND DRUG OPERATION RESULTS IN ANOTHER 24 ARRESTS |

Multi-Agency Drug Enforcement Team conducts operations that lead to more than 50 arrests on drug charges.

On Friday, February 19th, agents from the Multi-Agency Drug Enforcement Team (MADET) and High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) teams, including Sheriff's Office and Ocala Police Department agents, investigated two methamphetamine labs. One of the labs was identified by a patrol deputy who received a tip and confirmed it, before notifying the drug unit. At 20221 SE 157th Street, agents recovered over 500 grams of meth and arrested three people at that residence. At 13165 NE 246th Court, agents recovered over 600 grams of meth and arrested another three people. Charges included trafficking in meth, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Saturday, February 20th, agents served two search warrants, conducted a "buy bust" and an undercover operation in the southeast area of Marion County which resulted in 18 arrests for various drug related charges, including outstanding warrants.
This operation contributes to the more than 50 arrests for drug charges in the last week. The Marion County Sheriff's Office is working with the Ocala Police Department in actively seeking and arresting drug users and dealers in Marion County in an effort to keep citizens safe.
