| CONSTRUCTION ACCIDENT RESULTING IN DEATH |
|
An incident on the construction site of National Parts Depot, 900 SW 38th Ave., resulted in the death of an employee of Metal-Bilt Construction, LLC, out of Orlando, FL.
|
At approximately 8:48am, officers responded to National Parts Depot, 900 SW
38th Ave., in reference to an accident that had occurred on the west side of
the property resulting in the death of a member of the sub-contracted
construction crew. Metal-Bilt Construction, LLC out of Orlando, FL is builing
an expansion onto the existing building for National Parts Depot.
This morning, according to information from persons on the scene,one of the
employees of Metal-Bilt Construction was placing a safety cable around one of
the steel columns when it fell and struck him. The steel column is estimated
to weigh approximately 1500 pounds. The victim is a male, approximately 40
years of age, who is from Orlando, FL. His identity is not being released
until notification of next of kin.
OSHA has been contacted to respond to the scene.
