Case #’s 201000008226 & 201000008283
On Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at approximately 6:56pm, officers responded to the CVS Pharmacy located at 3501 N. Pine Ave., Ocala, in reference to an Armed Robbery. Upon arrival information was obtained that a white male had come in and gone to the drop off counter at the pharmacy. He had a shopping bag with him and a hand inside one of the pockets of the hoodie-type sweatshirt he was wearing. The suspect advised the pharmacy clerk/pharmacy technician, “Give me your Oxycontin.” The clerk looked to the pharmacist who then went to retrieve the drugs. The suspect advised the clerk/pharmacy technician that they had one (1) minute to comply. As the pharmacist, with the assistance of two clerk/pharmacy technicians, went to retrieve the drugs, the suspect advised them, “You got thirty (30) seconds before I jump over this counter …I have a gun!” Upon returning to the counter, the suspect was provided with an as yet undetermined amount of Oxycontin. He then fled the store. During this incident, while in the back retrieving the drugs, one of the pharmacy technicians was able to call 911 from her cellular telephone.
Surveillance photos of the suspect were obtained from the store. Detective Matthew Bos was assigned to investigate. Through the course of the investigation, Det. Bos was able to identify the robber as W/M Joshua Levi Head, DOB 04/30/79, and now has probable cause for his arrest for Armed Robbery. Head is out of Alachua County and is currently on felony probation.
Approximately two and a half hours later on this same evening, officers responded to a robbery at Sweet Seductions Adult Video store, located at 2033 N. Pine Ave. In this incident, an unknown white male came in wearing a blue hoodie-type sweatshirt, blue jeans, a blue or black beanie cap, and a blue scarf covering the lower portion of his face. The subject walked up to the counter and pointed a black handgun at the owner and his clerk. He demanded money and advised them, “This isn’t a joke” several times. The owner opened the cash register drawer and the suspect reached over and took the cash from the drawer while still keeping the handgun pointed at them. After obtaining an undetermined amount of cash, the suspect fled from the scene. The investigation is continuing at this time. It is unknown if these two incidents are related.
Anyone with further information related to either of these cases is asked to call the Ocala Police Department at 352-369-7000 or, to remain anonymous, to contact Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 352-368-7867(STOP) or go to www.ocalacrimestoppers.com
