"PIGEON DROP" SCAM - EXPLOITATION OF ELDERLY PERSONS
On October 1, 2009, two unknown black females committed a scam on a 79 year old female victim.
On October 1, 2009, at approximately 3:06 PM, the Ocala Police Department
responded to Kane's Furniture, 2526 SW College Rd. in reference to a possible
theft of money. Upon arrival, Officer J. Cabrera made contact with the 79
year old black female victim who advised to the following:

She had been shopping at the Winn-Dixie in Belleview, Fl when she was
approached by two unknown black females. The two told her that if she gave
them $1,600.00, they would put this with the $17,000.00 that they had and
split the total amount three ways between them. The victim voluntarily got
into the car with the two black females who drove her to her home in Ocala, FL
to retrieve her checkbook and then to the Centerstate Bank at 3001 SE Maricamp
Rd. in Ocala. Once at the bank, one of the females accompanied the victim
into the bank to retrieve the cash. The victim was able to with draw $800.00
from the bank, which she gave to the two black females.
They then drove the victim to Kanes Furniture on College Rd. and told her to
go inside and browse, and they would join her shortly. The victim went inside
the business, but the other two never came in and had left the area. Police
were then notified.

Detective Wayne Greene was assigned to investigate and was able to obtain
surveillance pictures from Centerstate Bank. The picture attached shows one of the
black female suspects - she is wearing a hat. It is still unknown who these suspects are, and we are seeking assistance in identifying
them.

Anyone with information on who the suspects are and/or where they are located
at are encouraged to contact the Ocala Police Department at (352)369-7000 or
