CAPITAL SEXUAL BATTERY ARREST
B/M Robert Sinclair Harris, 44 years of age, was arrested for Capital Sexual Battery on 10/08/09.
On Wednesday, 10/07/09, at approximately 7:12 PM, Corporal Richard Knobloch responded to a call for an assist with the Department of Children and Families (DCF)in reference to a possible sexual assault. Upon arrival at Kimberly's Cottage/Marion County Children's Advocacy Center he made contact with a DCF Investigator who was monitoring a forensic interview with the 9 year old black female victim. Cpl. Knobloch observed the interview as well. During the inverview it was disclosed by the victim that, while staying temporarily at the home of a family friend, black male Robert Sinclair Harris, DOB 01/08/65 (44 years of age), Harris had sexually battered the victim. Information obtained in the investigation was that in the early morning hours of Tuesday, 10/06/09, - between 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM - the victim, who had been sleeping on the couch, was awakened by Harris kissing her and then pulling her panties off of her. During this time, statements were made of the victim being vaginally penetrated - both penile and digital penetration -, attempts made at anal penetration, and her having performed oral sex on Harris at his instruction. The victim advised that Harris made her "pinky promise" not to tell about what had occurred. The victim's mother entered the room after these incidents and advised to feeling something wasn't right, but the victim told her there was nothing wrong. The victim advise to being afraid to tell her mother with Harris still in the residence. The victim's mother, and other family members, did confront Harris and he advised them he was "So sorry", but did not advise what he was sorry for. The allegation of this incident was reported through the DCF hotline. On Thursday, 10/08/09, Detective Stephanie McQuaig interviewed Robert Harris at the Ocala Police Department. Initially Harris denied the allegations. However, he then advised that the victim was "rubbing on his arm and coming onto him." He advised that he digitally penetrated the victim's vaginal area, may have touched the anal area and that oral sex did occur. Detective McQuaig placed Harris under arrest for one count of Capital Sexual Battery. He was transported to the Marion County Jail where he was held without bond.
