On yesterday's date, 10/01/09, at approximately 4:52pm, officers from the Ocala Police Department responded to a reported robbery with injuries that had just occurred in the 700 block of NE 3rd St. Upon arrival, the officers found the white female victim being treated by Ocala Fire Rescue for her injuries. Investigation by the officers revealed that the victim had pulled out of a local bank and proceeded to drive eastbound on NE 3rd St. in her 1995 white Toyota 4dr vehicle. She then noticed a white SUV behind her that was driving very close to her rear bumper. The SUV passed around the victim on this 2-lane road. The victim advise that the SUV cut her off when it passed her and she honked her horn at it.
The driver of the white SUV abruptly "slammed on its brakes", after the victim honked her vehicle's horn, and stopped in the roadway in front of the victim, causing her to almost run into the rear of that vehicle. The victim advised that she observed a large black male exit the driver's side of the vehicle and start walking back towards her vehicle. She then picked up her cellular telephone, intending to call for help. The black male then punched the victim's driver's side window, causing it to shatter. He then punched her with his fist in the left side of the face and took her cell phone away and smashed it on the ground. The black male then got back into his SUV and fled the area, eastbound on NE 3rd St.
The victim was able to provide officers with the tag of the white SUV the suspect had been driving, as she had written it down when he'd cut her off. Through that information and the victim's description of the suspect, Corporal Dan Clark was able to identify, located and arrest the suspect less than one hour after the incident.
The suspect was identified as black male Earl Randle Frazier, DOB 10/16/75, of 2631 NE 10th St., #703, Rosehill Apartments in Ocala.
Frazier was arrested and charged with Burglary with a Battery There-In, Tampering with a Victim During a Life Felony Investigation, Battery, and Criminal Mischief $200 - $1,000. Bond was set at $31,000.00 and he was booked into the Marion County Jail.
Luckily, the victim received minor physical injuries as a result of this incident. The Ocala Police Department is happy that this incident did not result in serious injury to the victim and to have been able to make an arrest quickly.
