UPDATE ON BANK ROBBERIES
Suspect has been identified in two Bank Robberies that occurred in Ocala this month.
On 08/27/09, Heritage Bank, located at 1409 E. SR 40, Ocala, FL, was robbed by a black male. Surveillance photos of the suspect were disseminated to the public. As Detectives from the Major Crimes Section continued to investigate, they developed information on the identity of the suspect, who was subsequently identified by witnesses as the robber. He has been identified as black, male James Lee Coleman, DOB 09/28/83, of the Ocala/Marion County area.

In the course of the investigation, Detective Gauthier did locate Coleman's brother, black male Desmond M. Davis, DOB 04/02/90, who fit the description of the getaway driver from witness statements. Davis did tell Detective Gauthier that he had been the driver of the car when Coleman robbed Heritage Bank. Davis was placed under arrest for one count of Strong-Arm Robbery (Bank) and booked into the Marion County Jail under a $10,000.00 bond.

While assisting Detective Gauthier in this investigation, Detective Mark Hoover found that the surveillance photos of the suspect, James Lee Coleman, matched the description of the suspect in the robbery on August 3, 2009 of the Suntrust Bank located at 1601 SW College Rd., Ocala, FL. Through the use of a photographic lineup, Detective Hoover was able to positively identify Coleman as the suspect who had committed the Suntrust Bank Robbery.

Currently, James Lee Coleman is wanted for the two Bank Robberies. Anyone with information on the location of Coleman, or with any further information on these crimes, is asked to call the Ocala Police Department at 352-369-7000, or, to remain anonymous, to call Crime Stoppers at 352-368-STOP (7867) or got to www.ocalacrimestoppers.com.
