Plane Crash - No Injuries
Officers responded to a report of a plane crash at the Ocala International Airport on Saturday, 08/22/09.
On 8/22/2009 at approx. 9:54 AM, Officers from the Ocala Police and Fire
Department responded to the Ocala International Airport, 1200 SW 60 Avenue, in
reference to an airplane crash. Upon arrival Officers learned that Gail
Kirchner, 62 years of age, was flying her 1940s era single engine military
type plane from the Leeward Air Ranch to O.I.A. and when she landed one of the
plane's front landing gear collapsed, causing the plane to leave the runway.
No major damage was done and she was not injured. The main runway had to be
temporarily closed down. Airport Managment responded and FAA was notified.
