Case #200900122378
On today's date, 07/23/09, at approximately 12:49pm the Ocala Police Department received a call in reference to a carjacking. B/M Derrick R. Williams, DOB 05/25/77, advised that he'd been driving by a residence located at 1505 NW 19th Ct., Ocala, and saw a friend known as "Nokey" out front. William yelled out a greeting and "Nokey" requested his help to move something. Upon going to help, Williams advise that "Nokey" began punching him. Williams ran back to his vehicle - a 2006 maroon Ford F250 pickup truck - and attempted to flee the area, but "Nokey" prevented this, continued to beat on Williams, and took Williams' keys and cell phone from him. "Nokey" then drove off with Williams' truck. In the course of the investigation, "Nokey" was identified as B/M Thomas A. Smith, Jr., DOB 12/24/78.
Williams' truck has not yet been recovered. Probable cause exists for the arrest of Smith for one count of Carjacking. Detective Miguel Gauthier is actively seeking to locate Smith and arrest him. Anyone with information on where Smith is located is asked to call the Ocala Police Department at 352-369-7000 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 352-368-STOP (7867) or go to www.ocalacrimestoppers.com
