Home Invasion Results in Five Arrests
On March 30, 2014, Officers responded to a disturbance at Carrington Lane Apartments. Investigation revealed a Home Invasion Robbery had occurred and resulted in the arrest of both the suspects and the victims.
On Sunday, 3/30/14, at approximately 1:22 am, officers responded to Carrington Lane Apts., 3001 SE Lake Weir Ave., Apt. 703, in reference to a disturbance called in by a neighbor. Ofc. Doug Russell arrived and three subjects exited the residence with blood on them. Ofc. Russell ordered all subjects to stop and requested additional units. All three subjects fled in separate directions. Officer Russell was able to capture W/M Tyler Pedroza after a short foot pursuit. Suspects identified as W/M Daniel Guerrero and A/F Samantha Combs were located shortly after at a residence in Fore Ranch.

Contact with the residents at the incident address, W/M Rehan Lalani and W/F Kensleigh Kotowske, revealed that the suspects knocked on the victims’ door and, once opened, forced entry inside and began beating victim, Rehan Lalani. Guerrero pulled a knife on both victims and threatened them if they called police; during the fighting Guerrero cut his own finger with the knife, but no one else. Combs grabbed Kotowske’s cell phone and advised that she was taking it so police could not be called. Both victims suffered minor injuries during this incident. Victim Lalani's wallet and cell phone were stolen.

Upon fleeing, Pedroza threw down a brown leather bag in front of Ofc. Russell, prior to fleeing. The bag was found to contain Lalani’s wallet, various items of drug paraphernalia and 19 tablets of Alprazolam (Xanex) in a plastic baggie.

Rehan Lalani and Kensleigh Kotowski, victims of the Home Invasion, were discovered to be destroying marijuana by putting it in the garbage disposal and found to also be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were less than honest about the motive of the Home Invasion, which was later learned to have been about money allegedly stolen from Pendroza by Lalani on a previous date. Pedroza advised officers that he had contacted Guerrero and Combs in Orlando to come to Ocala and assist him in getting his money back from Lalani.

All five of the persons involved were arrested. Charges were as follows:

W/M Rehan K. Lalani, DOB 5/5/93 (Victim of Home Invasion)

- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

W/F Kensleigh Blake Kotowske, DOB 12/6/95 (Victim of Home Invasion)
