Daimond Oil Smash & Grab Burglary
On 10/12/13, the Diamond Oil located at 2534 SE 17th St. was the victim of a burglary.
On 10/12/13, at approximately 6:40 am, officers from OPD responded to the Diamond Oil located at 2534 SE 17th St., due to a call from the management advising they'd had a break in. Upon arrival, officers found that a front glass window had been broken out and the area behind the sales counter was in disarray. A piece of concrete was found and appeared to be the object used to smash out the window.

Sureveillance video was later obtained. This showed a white male with a shirt around his face enter through the broken glass window. He attempts to fill up a crate with cigarettes and beer twice, but drops it twice when trying to escape out the window with it. After his second attempt, he abandons the crate and opts for taking what appears to be a case of beer and a carton or two of cigarettes. He manages to get out of the window with these items and flee. In the process of his bumbling attempts to commit the larger theft, the t-shirt around his face falls off and his face is exposed.
OPD is releasing the surveillance video and some still photos in the hopes of obtaining assistance in identifying this suspect. nyone with information on the identity of this suspect and/or his location is asked to contact the Ocala Police Department Detective Michael Bowman at 352-629-8210 or submit tips through our MyPD App. Tips can also be given via Crime Stoppers of Marion County by calling 352-368-STOP(7867), texting tips to 274637 using keyword 368STOP, or submitting tips to www.ocalacrimestoppers.com.
