The Compass Bank, 2620 SW 19th Ave. Rd., was robbed on 10/15/13.
On today’s date, 10/15/13, at approximately 12:34pm, officers responded to an alarm at Compass Bank, 2620 SW 19th Ave. Rd., indicating that they had been robbed. As officers responded, Dispatch was able to make contact with bank personnel who advised that they had been robbed by a black male subject wearing a long-sleeved grey shirt, dark jeans, a black wig and glasses. No weapon was ever seen; just implied.
Upon arrival, officers were given information that the suspect had fled out the front door of the bank and gone southbound on foot. As he did so, the dye-pack exploded and he dropped it, along with some other money, on the sidewalk just south of the front doors of the bank. A perimeter was set and K-9 “Kilo” started to track. As the investigation continued, a second dog was needed and an MCSO K-9 Unit responded to assist. The tracking was unsuccessful at the time of this release. No one was injured and the suspect fled with an undetermined amount of money.
OPD is releasing photos in order to seek assistance in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ocala Police Department at 352-369-7000 or submit tips through our MyPD App. Tips may also be submitted through Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 352-368-STOP, www.ocalacrimestoppers.com or by texting 274637 using keyword 368STOP.
