MAN ARRESTED FOR HIT & RUN TO MARKED POLICE CAR
A man was arrested in the early morning hours of August 28, 2013 when he committed a Hit & Run to an OPD marked Patrol Car.
On August 28, 2013 at approximately 12:38am, Officer Daniel Fitzpatrick was conducting a security in the 3800 block of NE 7th St., along with Officers Fried and Kelly. Ofc. Fitzpatrick had parked his vehicle off of the roadway on the south side of NE 7th St. and was out of his vehicle on foot when a 2004 Ford F250 that was travelling eastbound on NE 7th St., left the roadway and struck Ofc. Fitzpatrick’s marked police car. The right front and side of the Ford truck struck the left rear of the patrol car, causing significant damage. The driver of the Ford truck was observed to then accellerated and fled the scene. The two assisting officers immediately caught the Ford truck as it was pulling into the driveway of his residence, 578 NE 44 Ave. W/M Charles Oscar Sitzer, DOB 2/29/80 (33 y.o.a.), was taken into custody. Upon the officers making contact with Sitzer he made statements about being tired and falling asleep at the wheel; he also advised he’d gotten scared when he hit the patrol car and that’s why he ran. Sitzer was found to have in his possession, both on his person and in his vehicle, of containers with marijuana residue. Sitzer was charged with 1 count of Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Property Damage (Excess $10,000), 1 count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana), and 1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

There were no injuries to any parties as a result of this incident.
