On Monday, August 5, 2013, at approximately 11:05 PM, officers responded to the Panera at 2370 SW College Rd, Suite #101, in reference to an Armed Robbery that had just occurred to the business. The suspect is described as a black male subject wearing blue jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses, a bandana around his face and one black shoe and one white shoe.
The suspect entered through the back door of the business. There were three employees present at the time. The suspect was brandishing a silver colored handgun and pointed it at two of the employees and ordered them to the ground in the back prep area. No one was injured as a result of this incident. Surveillance video was obtained and released in the hopes of gaining assistance from the community on the identity and/or location of the suspect in this case.
Following the initial report, Detective Miguel Gauthier was assigned to investigate the case. Nunez advised to having set up the robbery with her boyfriend, Jones, because she was going through hard financial times. Approximately $900 of the stolen money was recovered from Nunez.
Additionally, the vehicle that Jones was stopped in was the same one identified as having committed the hit and run on Monday, August 5, 2013 at approximately 6:47 PM. Although he made no statements in regards to the robbery, he did advise that he had been driving when the traffic crash occurred and had left the scene. He was issued criminal citations for Leaving the Scene of an Accident and DWLSR; he received a traffic citation for the Violation of Right of Way.
