BURGLARY INVESTIGATION LEADS TO MULTIPLE DRUG ARRESTS

On March 24, 2013, a report of a Burglary at 1013 NE 21st Court was made with the Ocala Police Department. The victim reported that his 2008 Honda Civic had been parked inside of his attached garage. However, the garaged door had been left open overnight and the car left unsecured. During the night, unknown persons had entered the garage and taken a 5-gallon container full of gasoline and a Kel-Tec 9mm hadgun from inside the center console of his vehicle.

Detective L. Uptagraft was assigned to investigate this case. He found that a latent print of value had been lifted from the scene and that a positive identification through AFIS had been made. The print came back as belonging to W/M Justin Alexander Knight, DOB 8/24/90, who was found to be an absconder from Probation and Parole out of Hillsborough County, where he was currently on probation for multiple counts of Burglary and Dealing in Stolen Property. A warrant for the Absconding had already been issued and Det. Uptagraft obtained a warrant for Armed Burglary Residential and Grand Theft.

On Thursday, April 11, 2013, Ocala Police Officers from the Special Deployment Unit (SDU) and Marion County Sheriff's Office Deputies from the Fugitive Apprehension Unit, as well as Property Crimes Investigators from both Agencies, responded to 705 SE 8th St., due to having information that Knight may be there. Upon arrival, he was spotted just inside the residence. Officers went inside and took Knight into custody, and in the course of this they observed drug paraphernalia and indicators of a Meth Lab in the residence. All persons were detained, a search warrant was obtained and UDEST was called in due to the possible Meth Lab.

The following persons were arrested as a result of this joint apprehension effort:

W/F Ann Marie Bratta, DOB 5/25/93 - Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

W/M Peter Letzgus, DOB 9/4/82 - Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

W/M Travis Brewster, DOB 5/1/85 - Possession of New legend drug, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Fugitive from Justice- heroine charge out of Missouri

W/M Justin Knight, DOB 8/24/90 - Warrant for Armed Burglary & Grand theft; Warrant for Dealing in Stolen Property, Violation of the Pawnbrokers Act, and VOP out of Hillsborough County.

The investigation into the Meth Lab indicators is continuing and all hazardous materials were removed by a HAZMAT Team.
