Detective Mathew Steckman is seeking information on an incident where the door of a residence in Ocala was kicked in and a 13 year old was shocked with an electronic stun-type device.
On March 27, 2013 at approximately 12:44 AM, a subject kicked in the front door of a residence, located at 1819 NE 5th Place. The subject was an unknown male, approximately 5'11" to 6'00" tall, wearing all black, to include a black ski mask, hooded sweatshirt, pants, shoes & gloves. The 13 year old grandson of the residents, who was just visiting during Spring Break, had been sleeping on the couch when he heard the banging at the front door. When he went to the front entry way, he observed the black clothed male running towards him with a "taser" type of device in his hand. The subject shocked the 13 year old with the electronic device in the upper abdomen area, causing him to fall to the ground, and then fled back out the front door.

The noise had woken the grandparents/residents. As the grandfather, w/m Larry Osborne, came into the hallway he was told of the break-in by his grandson. Mr. Osborne checked the residence and found no one there, and then contact OPD. Nothing inside or outside the home was damaged or taken; only the front door & frame sustained any damage.

Detective Mathew Steckman is currently investigating this case. Anyone with information in reference to this incident and/or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Det. Steckman at 352-369-7147. Or phone anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 368-STOP(7867), texted to 274637 using keyword 368STOP or submitted at www.ocalacrimestoppers.com.
