Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Detective Mike Hilton charged a man from a 12/28/12 fight at the BP, 3620 E. SR40, with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
On today’s date, 01/16/13, Detective Mike Hilton arrested B/M Larry Leroy Floyd, DOB 07/26/90, on one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

On December 28, 2012, the Ocala Police Department responded to the BP Station located at 3620 E. SR40 in reference to a report of a fight. Upon arrival, officers found W/M Robin Moore, II, DOB 02/01/90 and Floyd lying in the parking lot of the business. Both had injuries to the face and head areas, and a switchblade knife was lying on the ground next to Floyd. Officers had a hard time obtaining much information from either of them at that time, except that the two had walked down from a local bar called Dr. B’s. However, while still on scene a female called the BP to advise she had been present for the fight. Ashley Kennedy advised that she had been accosted by Moore and Floyd when she exited the business. Her boyfriend, Christopher Griffin and his friends, Matthew Rice and “Charles” intervened. A verbal altercation took place that quickly turned physical. Kennedy, Griffin, Rice and “Charles” were able to flee when Moore and Floyd fell to the ground.

Det. Hilton interviewed Floyd at the Marion County Jail on 1/8/13 in reference to this case; he had been arrested for Robbery charges in another OPD case. During the course of this interview, Floyd advised that he “popped his knife” because he thought it was time to fight.

As a result of his investigation, Det. Hilton found that probable cause exists for the arrest of Floyd for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Floyd is still in the Marion County Jail at this time.
