Man Arrested for Aggravated Child Abuse
Det. Hilton arrested a man for Aggravated Child Abuse to his 5 month old.

Case #201200227258

On Tuesday, 01/15/13, Detective Mike Hilton arrested B/M Jermal Adrean Morris, DOB 02/14/93, on one count of Aggravated Child Abuse - Domestic. On December 13, 2012, the Ocala Police Department received a report in reference to a 5 month old child being taken to a local hospital by ambulance due burn injuries. She was then transferred to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where she was examined by the Child Protection Team. The infant was found to have first, second and third degree burns to her mouth, buttocks, genitals and legs that were not possible to have been self-inflicted.
As a result of his investigation, Det. Hilton found that the only person in contact with the child at the time she received these injuries was Morris, the child's father. Upon being interviewed, he first advised that he'd spilled hot chocolate on the child, and then later changed his story to advise that he had spilled a hot bottle of formula, which he'd heated in the microwave, on the child. Per the investigation by Det. Hilton, Morris was found to have caused the injuries sustained by the infant. He was arrested by Det. Hilton on 1/15/13.

The child spent over a week in the hospital being treated for her injuries. She is now with her mother and is doing well.
