On today’s date, June 4, 2009, at approximately 12:22 PM, the Ocala Police Department received a call from Monroe Regional Medical Center reporting that a patient in the Emergency Department was advising to having been the victim of Domestic Violence. Corporal Richard Knobloch responded and made contact with the victim and her friend at the hospital.
Upon speaking with the victim and her friend, Gwendolyn Dixon, Cpl. Knobloch learned that they had both been at the victim’s ex-husband’s house this morning to check on a puppy that they had taken to the veterinarian this same date. Dixon advised that she had fallen asleep on the couch, but was awakened by the victim’s ex-husband, Bruce Rodney Terry, DOB 11/13/64, yelling at the victim to “shut up”. When Dixon got up to try and help her friend, Terry told her to “lie back down and shut up or she was next.” Terry had a “sawed off shotgun” in his hand according to the victim and Dixon. Terry continually punched the victim in the face and advised her that he was “going away to prison so it didn’t matter and that he would kill her.” When Terry stopped beating the victim and released her, she and Dixon fled from the house.
The victim was observed to have injuries to her face, neck, legs and feet. Dixon, while not physically injured, was threatened by Terry and held captive by him, as well.
It was found that Terry had an outstanding warrant in Marion County for Failure to Appear on various drug related charges. Officers responded to Terry’s residence, located at 2016 NW 7th St., Ocala, FL, and placed him under arrest. He was found in a shed on the property and a Mossberg pump shotgun was found by the door of the shed. Per Terry’s request, Sgt. Greg Martin went into Terry’s duffel bag to retrieve his wallet. While doing so, over 28 grams of powder and “crack” cocaine was located in the bag by Sgt. Martin. Agent Anthony Vizzini of the Multi-Agency Drug Enforcement Team (MADET) then responded to the scene. Agent Vizzini arrested Terry for drug and firearm charges. Terry was transported to the Marion County Jail.
