Man arrested for attempted murder
Employee attacked by his boss sustains serious injuries.
On Wednesday January 25, 2012 at around 5:45 PM, Officers responded to Beall’s Department Store, 4901 East Silver Springs Blvd. in reference to a report of a man that had been stabbed. Upon arrival Officers made contact with the victim James Self. Mr. Self advised he worked at Anthony’s Pool and Spa and his boss Anthony Manno had attacked him and cut him on the neck and hands with an unknown object. Mr. Self had serious injuries and had to be flown to a medical facility for emergency treatment.

A witness at the business reported there was an argument between the victim and Manno at which time Manno attacked the victim. The witness advised they tried to stop the altercation and the victim ran out of the business. Manno reportedly chased the victim into the parking lot and knocked him down and started beating him with kicks and punches. The victim was able to get free and ran for help at the Beall’s Department Store. Manno fled the scene in his vehicle.

Detectives responded to the scene and determined Manno would be charged with attempted homicide due to the nature of the victim’s injuries and the extreme violence of the assault. Detectives issued a nationwide BOLO for Manno and he was located by the Florida Highway Patrol at the Okahumpka Service Plaza on the Florida Turnpike. Manno was apprehended and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
