Ocala Police Department exceeds expectations during 2010/2011 Impaired Driving Campaign
Ocala Police Departmentís Traffic Division was nominated and selected to appear on the Florida Department of Transportationís 2012 Traffic Safety calendar
Ocala Police Department exceeds expectations during 2010/2011 Impaired Driving Campaign. The statistics here represent the highlighted overview of the enforcement activities achieved since October 2010.

-The department has exceeded its goal of conducting 444 hours of Impaired Driver Suppression Patrols by conducting 2036.75, nearly 1600 hours more than expected.
-The department committed to participating in 6 combined suppression patrols and thus far, has organized, hosted and participated in 6 multi-agency suppression patrols.
-The department has hosted 3 of 4 checkpoints and so far, reduced alcohol related crashes by 31%, reduced fatalities by 66% and increased arrests of impaired drivers by 90%.
-A total 10 High School Driverís Education classes has been addressed with a lecture regarding the dangers of impaired driving, exceeding the required 2 educational lectures. 1 Police Explorer youth group and 1 Boy Scout Troop towards the 4 goal requirement for lectures to youth groups regarding the dangers of impaired driving has been conducted. (301 students addressed)
-The department continues to work closely with media outlets and continues to utilize itsí own social networks to increase itsí visibility and commitment to impaired driver enforcement activities.

As a result of all the good work the Ocala Police Departmentís Traffic Division was nominated and selected to appear on the Florida Department of Transportationís 2012 Traffic Safety calendar. The selection is based on the Ocala Police Departmentís commitment to traffic safety as reflected in the statistics listed above.
