Metro PCS Employee captures armed robbery suspect.

On Thursday June 23, 2011 at 3:30 PM, a white male entered the Citgo Gas Station located at 1737 E. Silver Springs Blvd. The victim, store clerk Paige Kunthy Keo stated the subject had a long wig that concealed his face and hands. Keo stated the subject screamed at her “open the drawer “. Keo told officers she was in great fear that the subject was going to hurt her so she opened the cash drawer and gave him money. Keo stated the subject then reached into the cash drawer removed money and fled from the business.

Keo followed the suspect outside the business and yelled to bystanders that she had been robbed by the fleeing subject. Metro PCS Employee Danny Anzardo was outside on break and observed the subject run from the business holding a knife. Anzardo also observed Keo exit the business holding her side and thought she had been stabbed by the subject.

Anzardo stated he chased after the subject and was able to tackle him against a brick wall and dislodge the knife from his hand.

Officer Jason Douglas was in the area at the Radio Shack and was advised by citizens of the incident. Officer Douglas observed Anzardo holding the subject as he exited the Radio Shack. Officer Douglas ran to the subject and as Anzardo backed away the subject attempted to flee on foot. Officer Douglas chased the subject a short distance and was able to take subject Tony Knighten into custody.

Knighten was turned over to Detective Matt Steckman and he was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon and transported to the Marion County Jail on $50,000.00 bond.
