Ocala Police Department Urges Safety for the Big Game
Ocala Police Department Urges Safety for the Big Game
The Ocala Police Department is reminding citizens to enjoy the big game this Sunday in a responsible manner, if your game plans include drinking at a party or restaurant. The department will have officers on the roads to ensure the safety of all motorists as part of its participation in the “Over the Limit, Under Arrest” DUI campaign and our ongoing commitment to reducing impaired driving crashes.

Super Bowl Sunday is a time for getting together, having fun, and watching the game. Often this involves a lot of great food and alcoholic beverages. The Ocala Police Department urges responsible drinking by those throwing or attending the party. Think about using a designated driver and have plans in place before the party starts. Have non-alcoholic beverages on hand for the designated drivers. Stop serving alcoholic beverages well before the end of the game. Keep the numbers of cab companies on hand for those that are impaired. Be a friend and don’t let your friends drive impaired.

Past years statistics have shown that alcohol use contributes to almost a third of traffic fatalities on our roads. On Super Bowl Sunday this increases to almost half of all fatalities.

Enjoy the game…Safely and Responsibly.
