On April 25, 2009 a man attempted to rob the Walgreens, located at 807 E. Silvers Springs Blvd. and was arrested.
On today’s date, at approximately 6:41 PM, the Ocala Police Department responded to 807 East SR-40, Walgreens in reference to a robbery that just occurred.
When Officers arrived they were advised by the clerk that a white male had attempted to take the receipts from the cash drawer after she opened it. The clerk fought with the suspect over the contents of the cash register. The suspect eventually gave up and fled from the store. The suspect fled south bound across State Road 40 toward S.E. Ft. King Street. Responding Officers set up a perimeter and MCSO K-9 responded and started a track in the direction the suspect was last observed running. A person matching the description given by the clerk was observed going in to an apartment on S. E. Ft. King St. That person was located and detained. He was identified by witnesses and arrested. The suspect is identified as W/M Christopher Austin 5/13/78. Mr. Austin was booked into the Marion County Jail for Attempted Robbery.
