ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY
On 12/01/10 an unknown black male subject attempted to rob the A & A Discount Beverage, located at 2331 NW 10th St., at gunpoint.
On December 1, 2010, at approximately 10:20pm, Ocala Police Officers responded to the A & A Discount Beverage, located at 2331 NW 10th St. in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred. Upon arrival, Officer Casey Walsh made contact with the clerk who advised to a black male with a gun coming into the store and attempting to rob him. He advised that the suspect told him to "put the money in the bag and hand it to me." The clerk advised that he immediately laid down on the floor behind the counter, which also has a plexi-glass divider. He waited until he heard the door "beep", indicating the suspect had gone out the door, then ran to the back of the store and called the police.

We were able to obtain surveillance video from the store of the incident. This video shows the robber coming into the store and pulling out the gun. When the clerk disappears to the floor, this appears to confuse the robber, who paces back and forth before finally fleeing the scene. The suspect is completely covered and only left a small opening in the hood of his pull-over hoodie sweatshirt where he has tightened the draw strings.

No shots were fired and there were no injuries as a result of this incident. The suspect did not obtain any money.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to contact the Ocala Police Department, Major Crimes Division at 352-369-7131. Or, to remain anonymous, to contact Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 352-368-STOP(7867) or go to www.ocalacrimestoppers.com
