ATTEMPTED ROBBERY AT 17TH STREET DISCOUNT PHARMACY
OPD officers catch suspect who attempted to rob the 17th Street Discount Pharmacy on 10/07/10.

Today, 10/07/10, at approximately 11:21am officers from the Ocala Police Department responded to the 17th Street Discount Pharmacy, located at 2506 SE 17th St., #B, in reference to a robbery. The clerks there advised that a white male, 6’0” tall, clean shaven, wearing a dark blue shirt and blue jeans had come in and presented a note that advised he was robbing them. The note advised, “Don’t be stupid!” and requested a list of demands, the first being cash and the second two being narcotics of specific dosages. There was no weapon shown nor were there any statements in reference to a weapon in the note.

As the employees delayed fulfilling the demands, the suspect eventually fled the business without receiving any money or narcotics. Employees were able to provide a description and tag on the vehicle to officers, which enabled K-9 Officer, Gerard King, to locate the vehicle traveling on NE 36th Ave. and conduct a traffic stop. The subject driving was positively identified as the subject who had just attempted to rob the pharmacy. He was taken into custody for the robbery and at that time began to make medical complaints. EMS was requested and he was transported to MRMC at that time.

The arrestee has been identified as: W/M Dande Frank Marziali, DOB 07/10/67, of Marion County. Marziali had been released on 06/30/2010 from DOC, where he served time for a Grand Theft charge.

Additionally, Detective Jamie Buchbinder is charging Marziali with 2 counts of Grand Theft in reference to 2 separate incidents where televisions were stolen from Walmart, 4980 E. Silver Springs Blvd., on September 21st & 26th, 2010.
