| Burglar Caught by Officer |

Cpl. Wissinger captures suspect from a residential burglary that had just occurred on April 21, 2009.

On today’s date, April 21, 2009, at approximately 4:39 AM, the Ocala Police Department received a call of a burglary that had just occurred to an occupied home, located at 227 NE 12th Ave., Ocala, Marion County, FL. The victim advised that a white male, approximately 5’10”, medium build, wearing a black beanie-type cap, a blue sweatshirt and blue jeans, entered the home and took her purse. The victim had been watching television in her bedroom when the suspect entered and turned on the light. She then yelled at the suspect, telling him to get out of her house. She then chased the suspect as he ran out the front door of her residence. No one was harmed in the incident. The suspect was last seen running eastbound between NE 2nd St. and NE 3rd St. in the alley.
Officers responded to the area and set up a perimeter. A track was attempted by K-9 units. During the course of this search, a call was received at approximately 5:10 AM in reference to a prowler at 1520 NE 8th St.; reporting that a white male was in their back yard. Corporal Roger Wissinger, who was on his way in for his shift, responded to the prowler call and located a subject, matching the description of the suspect from the original burglary call, in the area of the 1700 block of NE 9th St.. Cpl. Wissinger made contact with the subject, who then fled from him. A short foot pursuit ensued and the subject was captured by Cpl Wissinger in the area of the 800 block of NE 17th Ave. During the foot pursuit, the suspect threw down a bag that was discovered to be the purse stolen in the burglary. Once apprehended and searched, he was found to have a knife in his pocket.
The suspect was identified as Adam C. Kines, DOB 02/28/84. Kines did advise to having forced his way into the residence at 227 NE 12th Ave., and did show Cpl. Wissinger the route he took after leaving, which resulted in the recovery of several items from the victim’s purse. Kines was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with one count of Armed Residential Burglary Occuppied and one count of Resisting an Officer without Violence. Bond was set at $25,500.
