DEATH INVESTIGATION
Detectives are investigating the deaths of two people whose bodies were found inside an apartment at a local complex on September 1, 2010.
On today's date, Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at approximately 4:01 PM, officers from the Ocala Police Department responded to Cedarwood Apartments, 1633 NE 39th Ave., Apt. #E, in reference to a Citizen Assistance call. Upon arrival it was reported by management that there was concern for the residents of the apartment as they had not been seen and there were an abundance of flies in the front window. They also were not responding to the knocking on the front door.

Management unlocked the door in order for the officers to do a well-being check on the residents. Upon entering, officers immediately located a white female deceased in a chair in the living room area. A second deceased subject - a white male - was located in one of the two bedrooms and a cat was also found deceased in the bathroom. It appeared that all had suffered gun shot wounds and a handgun was located on the premises. It also appeared that the subjects may have been deceased for several days. At this time, the death is suspicious in nature and is being investigated by detectives from the Major Crimes Section.

Identities of the deceased persons have not been confirmed at this time and are not being released. Cause of death has not yet been determined. On scene investigation was still in progress this evening and further information will be released as it becomes available. The bodies of the deceased are being transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Leesburg for autopsy.
