| STABBING INCIDENT |

A man was stabbed in his apartment in NW Ocala and the suspect was located and arrested a short time later.

INITIAL RELEASE:
On today's date, Friday, 07/09/10, the Ocala Police Department received a call in reference to a stabbing that had just occurred at Blitchton Station Apartments, 1741 NW 7th St., Ocala, FL. Upon arrival, Officers discovered b/m Joseph Benjamin Devlin, DOB 07/27/86, had been cut and stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife that was still protruding from his upper back area. Medical was cleared enter and Devlin was transported by helicopter for treatment. Investigators are still on scene conducting their investigation into this incident. All leads are being followed up on at this time. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
FOLLOW UP RELEASE:
In the course of the investigation, a description and name of the suspect in this stabbing was obtained. The information advised that the suspect was b/m Garnett Alexander Stevens, DOB 04/01/90, and that he had left the area wearing a dress and high heels.
This information was given out in a BOLO to all officers. As a result of the search of the area for Stevens, he was located behind some abandoned houses in the 700 block of NW 6th St. and taken into custody. This occurred at approximately 1210 hours.
Garnett Alexander Stevens is being charged by Detective Mark Hoover with one count of Attempted Murder.
