| Assistant Chief Perry Eugene Bostick |
Killed by Assailants in Alley October 19, 1924 |
 |
On October 19, 1924, Officer
Perry Bostick was killed
while investigating a alley
to the west of town. In the
April 24, 1930, edition of
the Ocala Evening Star, an
article appeared referring
to three men being arrested
for the murder of Officer
Bostick. The Marion County
grand jury at the time of
the murder failed to indict
one of the men involved.
On October 21, 1924, Council
issued a resolution:
"Whereas, Police Officer P.
E. Bostick killed October
19, 1924, gave his life
early Monday morning in
defense of law and order in
the City of Ocala "...
"All
city offices closed to
attend the funeral. Council
offered a $400.00 reward for
the capture of Bosticks
assassins." |
