Application Process

Applicants are required to apply online on the City of Ocala website. First, create a profile and sign up for E-Notify. If you do not find the position you are seeking listed, check back often as available opportunities can change daily.

You will receive notifications throughout the hiring process, to include:

  • when your application is received
  • when your name appears on the list of eligible candidates
  • when updates are made to your status

When applying for a sworn position with the Ocala Police Department you will be expected to complete:

  1. Written Exam
  2. Polygraph
  3. Background Investigation 
  4. Psychological Evaluation
  5. Interview with the Deputy Chief and Chief of Police
  6. City of Ocala Physical

During the first year of employment, Police Officers can expect:

  • Orientation
  • 16 Weeks of Field Training
  • 12 Month Probationary Period
