Dispatchers save seconds……….

………………… Seconds save lives.

The Communications Center is the primary means of communication for all police activities within the city.

The center is equipped with the latest in modern technology, including the 800 MHZ radio system, as well as a 911 mapping system equipped with the capability to track 911 calls from cellular phones and residential and business addresses. We are equipped with an enhanced 911 system, which gives us the name, address and phone number of where the call is placed from in case they are unable to communicate.

This division is a 24 hour/ 365 day operation, responsible for processing all 911 and non-emergency calls, including operating the FCIC/NCIC teletype system. This system enables our communications personnel to check warrants, obtain drivers license checks, vehicle checks, enter stolen vehicles, articles and other items as well as communicate with different agencies throughout the country via teletype.

Communications is a vital link between the citizens, the agency and the officers on the road. This section is the “nerve center” of the department and is responsible for receiving and processing all incidents that occur within the city of Ocala, and insuring prompt service to our citizens.
